2 Resorts, 1 Day | Grand Floridian, Portofino Bay & Toothsome Chocolate Emporium at CityWalk
After our night at Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party, we switched resorts to moved from the Grand Floridian Resort to the Portofino Bay Resort at Universal. We chose this resort because it comes with free Express Pass for the length of your stay.
Unlike last year, we decided to make this Saturday a rest day. Last year, we went to the theme parks around 3pm and only rode 5 rides in 5 hours WITH the Express Pass. So we decided to dress for the pool and enjoy the resorts so we would be well rested the next day. This was absolutely the right decision.
We spent some time at the Grand Floridian, did some pin trading and went to Basin and then headed to the Portofino Bay at Universal Orlando. While the resort is beautiful, it is undergoing renovations, but that didn't bother us much. However, when we arrived, there were no bell services because they were out of luggage carts. We realized, they were out because they used them to stack people's luggage and store it while guests checking out are visiting the parks. To me this is plain idiotic.
We went to the Pool Bar & Restaurant and every hour they have a pool game for the kids. While we were there, they plaid Musical Hoops and Rider WON!
The food was great and right after we finished lunch, I received a text that our room was ready. After that, Rider decided he didn't want to go back to the pool, so we all rested until dinner.
After our naps, we took the resort ferry to Citywalk and went to dinner at the Toothsome Chocolate Emporium. Rider REALLY wanted one of their milkshakes and he chose the Confetti Shake. He had a few bites and was happy. The food there was very good and reasonably priced. I was even able to order off the kids menu because I wasn't very hungry.
We then visited the Epic Universe Preview Center, which I must say is pretty cool. If you are in Orlando in the next few months, it's definitely worth a trip to check out.
All in all, it was a great resort & rest day!
