1st Day of Lightning Lane Multipass at Magic Kingdom (Part 1) | 1st Time on Tiana's Bayou Adventure!
Day 3 of our Walt Disney World Summer 2024 Vacation brought us to the Magic Kingdom. This was also the very first day of the new Lightning Lane MultiPass system (I am NOT a fan).
Normally, we just go to the park in the afternoon and then stay until close, but we decided to go in the morning for 2 reasons.
1. There are currently 2 virtual queues at Magic Kingdom. You can grab one at 7am and one at 1pm, but you have to have entered the park at 1pm to get the 2nd one.
2. You also cannot hold 2 virtual queues at once, so we made the strategy to get Tron first at 7am and then get a Lighting Lane for Tiana's. Tiana's has been going down almost everyday and we didn't want to risk not being called and not being able to get the drop for Tron at 1pm. We also wanted to ride Tiana's as soon as possible in case it did go down and it did around 1pm.
This worked out well for us because as soon as we rode Tiana's, I was able to switch my other 2 LL Multipasses to Big Thunder & Space Mountain and then book an additional Lightning Lane as you can now hold 3 at a time. This is great if you go in the morning. However, you will see in my evening video, I was not able to book any additional lightning lanes after 12pm. So our strategy of going to the parks in the afternoon and staying until close to beat the heat no longer works with this new Lightning Lane System. I go into detail in my recap video.
Transportation was NOT on our side this day. We had no idea the bus to Magic Kingdom at Fort Wilderness leaves from Pioneer Hall NOT the Bus Depot at the front. The Front Desk Clerk confirmed there was a bus when we checked in, but neglected to tell me it didn't leave from the Bus Depot like the rest of the buses. We even told the bus driver on the inner loop bus we were going to Magic Kingdom and he left us at the Bus Depot. After waiting 10 minutes, we finally called a Minnie Van and paid $40 to get to the park.
We also ran to the train arriving at Storybook Circus, only for it to be put out of service. Fortunately, everything else worked out well. However, it was brutally hot. With this new Multipass system, I think our Summer Walt Disney World Vacations may be over.
We did take the ferry back to Fort Wilderness and mobile ordered lunch at Trail's End before heading back to our cabin. The food was excellent and very convenient.
